LEWISBURG, Pa. – Morgan Wrightson (Gaithersburg, Md./Notre Dame Academy) was named the Patriot League Baden Rookie of the Week on Monday. The freshman guard scored a team-high 12 points on Saturday against Colgate, helping her to her second weekly award from the league this season.
Wrightson's 12 points against the Raiders came of 4-for-9 shooting from the field. She also shot 4-for-5 from the free throw line. The total followed a nine-point night on Wednesday when Bucknell women's basketball faced Lafayette, giving her 10.5 points per game last week. The average was good for first on the team during that stretch.
Wrightson also averaged seven rebounds, one assist and one steal per game in the two-win week for the Orange and Blue. Her defensive prowess helped Bucknell hold its opponents to 37.5 points per game as the team defeated Lafayette, 58-40, and Colgate, 53-35.
The guard is averaging nearly six points and more than two rebounds per game in her first season with the Bison. She earned her first Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor for the week of Dec. 7, following her seven-point, three-rebound, three-assist performance against Penn State.
Bucknell enters its final stretch of the regular season 15-10 overall and 7-5 in the Patriot League. The team next faces Lehigh at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 in Bethlehem, Pa. The regular-season schedule concludes with a Saturday, Feb. 28 matchup at Army, while the Patriot League Tournament kicks off on Saturday, March 7.
