LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's track and field team continued to qualify its student-athletes for the ECAC Championships on Saturday at the Penn State National Invite at Ashenfelter Track, with Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) leading the way in the 1,000 meters. The ECAC qualifying athletes, along with two other Bison, turned in performances putting them among the top 10 in Bucknell program history.
Fulmer finished sixth in the invitation heat of the 1,000 meters. Her time of 2:55.12 earned her seventh-best time in program history and the top time by a Bison since 2006.
The 4x400 team, made of Lindsay Appel (Wexford, Pa./North Alleghany), Jenny Dalzell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional), Jenn Pierce (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands) and Megan Hathaway (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield), was Bucknell's other ECAC qualifying group. Despite finishing 14th overall at the meet, the relay also posted one of the best times in school history at 3:52.99.
Rebecca Frey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) finished third in the pole vault, clearing 11 feet, 6.25 inches. Although not a personal best for sophomore, the height is still one among the top 10 at Bucknell.
Sarah Moniz (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional) finished fifth in the mile with a time of 5:06.22, rounding out the top-five finishes for the Orange and Blue. Teammate Hathaway finished sixth for the Bison in the 500 meters, completing the race in 1:16.02. The senior's time was just .02 seconds off of the ECAC qualifying mark, but it did earn her the seventh-best time in Bucknell's history with the event.
Bucknell returns to University Park, Pa., on Feb. 6-7 for Penn State's Sykes-Sabock Challenge.
