
Bucknell Men's Swimming and Diving Drops 155-125 Decision to Duquesne

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Daniel Fletcher (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove), Gonzalo DeLeon (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) and Eric Sokolosky (Branford, Conn./Branford) posted individual victories for Bucknell, but Duquesne earned 11 victories in swimming events to post a 155-125 victory over the Bison in men's swimming and diving action Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium.
Fletcher, who posted three first-place showings against George Mason a week ago, won the 100-yard backstroke in 51.97 seconds. He also took second in the 100 freestyle (46.54) and 200 individual medley (1:55.01). The senior also swam the final leg of the silver-medal winning 200 free relay in 21.28.
DeLeon had a strong showing, earning first in the 200 backstroke and a third in the 100 back, two spots behind Fletcher.
Sokolosky's first-place finish came in the 50 free, where he posted a season-best time of 21.16. It was his third victory in the event in three meets this season. The sophomore also swam the final leg of the 200 medley relay that took second and the second leg of the 200 free relay.
While he did not post a victory, Luke Trafton (Bath, Maine/Morse) placed second in both the 1,000 free (9:56.68) and the 500 free (4:47.62).
Complete diving results were not available as of Saturday night.
With the loss, Bucknell fell to 1-1 on the season, while Duquesne improved to 1-1.
Bucknell will be on the road next Saturday, Nov. 7, when it travels to Annapolis, Md., to face Patriot League rivals American, Lafayette and Navy.
