A major part of being a Bucknell lacrosse player is laughing ... because we do a lot of it. As a team, we are obsessed with funny videos, whether it's one of the many YouTube videos we send out to each other on a daily basis or the ones on America's Funniest Videos, which we watch at our team dinners. We also just learn to laugh at the situations we find ourselves in.
The past three weekends, we have traveled to and from fall ball tournaments on a mini bus driven by none other than ... our coaches, a hilarious experience all by itself. I think the best part of our team, however, is our ability to laugh at even the unfortunate situations, such as the pouring rain that did not let up for a moment during our entire play day at the U.S. Naval Academy. Our ability to accept it, laugh at it, and move on, was part of what drove our success there this past weekend.
Though we got off to a shaky, wet, and cold start against the first two teams we played, I could tell that every one of my teammates was completely enjoying themselves out there. We played extremely well the last two games against Cincinnati and Richmond.
I think we really saw a glimpse of the great skill and ability that our team has, and I know it made me really excited to continue that momentum and do well in our actual spring season. As we joke and laugh together on and off the field, I think it brings us closer as a team, allowing us to have experiences that bind us together and make us a great BU lax family.
Don't get me wrong, as a team we really work hard on and off the field to make ourselves better, but we also know how to keep things in perspective and remember why we love the game and the team to begin with ... because it's fun. And if we play with that in mind, nothing can stop us.
