WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Paced by 1-under-par 70s from Brian Bartow (Rye, N.Y./Rye Neck) and Andrew Cohen (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck), the Bucknell men's golf team had a very good second round at the Joe Agee Invitational on Sunday. The Bison posted a team score of 286 (+2), tied for the second-best round of the day in the 11-team field, but they had too steep of a hill to climb after falling well behind on day one and finished in seventh place.
Cohen finished at 1-over 143 for the tournament, good for a tie for third place, two shots behind winner Eric Onesi of Old Dominion. In his four appearances this fall, Cohen has now finished 3rd-1st-2nd-3rd, and he lowered his team-best scoring average to 71.8.
Bucknell's No. 2 finisher was senior Ryan Schneiter (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest), who backed up an opening-round 76 with a 1-over 72 on Sunday. The score was one shy of his career high and helped him finish in a tie for 22nd place. Bartow finished T-27th after shooting 79-70.
Andrew Wallisch (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) had Bucknell's fourth score on Sunday, a solid 74. The Bison discarded a 79 from Jeff Pike (Rye, N.Y./Rye).
Delware closed with a 285, the low team total of the day by one shot over Bucknell and Old Dominion. The Blue Hens won the event by two shots over Old Dominion and four over first-day leader Longwood.
The Bison wrap up what has been an outstanding fall season next weekend at the Lehigh Invitational.
