Bucknell Women's Track & Field Ends Bison Open & Multi on Strong Note

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's track and field team earned a handful of first-place finishes and several more top-10 finishes at the 10th Annual Bison Open & Multi at Gerhard Fieldhouse on Saturday. The meet, which featured 19 teams, was a non-scoring event.
Casey Krause (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) came out on top of the rest of the field in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 2 inches, and Caroline Strunk (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) was victorious in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:11.81. The Orange and Blue also took second place in the 1,000, as Lauren Wiemken finished in 3:14.04.
Chelsey Musante (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) closed her weekend with another strong outing. A day after finishing ninth in the weight throw at the Penn State National Invite, the junior took first in the same event with a throw of 52-4 3/4. She also claimed third in the shot put with a throw of 41-0 1/4. Teammate Rebecca Misko followed with a fourth-place performance in the shot, throwing 40-11.
The squad's success in the field events was maintained as Amy Mantush (Drums, Pa./Hazelton) earned a share of the top spot in the high jump. The junior cleared a height of 5-5, while teammate Emily Moles (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) came in third with a clearance of 5-3.
Krause continued her success later in the day with a second-place finish in the triple jump by posting a mark of 35-5 3/4. The distance was a personal best by more than a foot for the sophomore.
Christina Muccio (Andover, Mass./Andover) had a strong day in the sprints, taking second place in the 200 in a time of 26.16 seconds and third place in the 60 meter dash. The freshman completed the 60 in 8.02, a top-10 time in program history.
Other top-five finishes in the Bison's home meet included Kelcey Coffin (Somerville, N.J./Somerville) and the distance medley relay team, each of which earned fourth-place finishes. Coffin's accomplishment came in the 500 with a time of 1:23.96, while the distance medley team finished in 12:51.15. Jessica Hibbert (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) rounded out the results with a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 in a time of 10:34.94.
Bucknell is back in action on Feb. 6-7 at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge at Penn State.
