LEWISBURG, Pa. - Two freshmen on the Bucknell women's track and field team were honored with Patriot League weekly awards after Bucknell had athletes compete at both the Penn Relays and at the Red Flash Open this past weekend, the league announced on Tuesday. Freshman Sarah Moniz (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional) was named the league's Track Athlete of the Week and freshman Alaina Chodoff (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) notched Rookie of the Week accolades.
On Day One of the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia last Thursday, Moniz led the way for Bucknell in the women's 3,000-meter run. In the championship division, the freshman notched an 18th-place finish, running a career-best time of 10:03.62. Her finish is the fifth-fastest in Bucknell history. Previously, Moniz held Bucknell's seventh-fastest time in the event (10:08.21), which she set at Princeton's Sam Howell Invitational earlier this season.
