Bucknell Women's Track and Field To Send Athletes To Auburn and Princeton This Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's track and field team will have athletes competing at both the Auburn Invitational and the Princeton Invitational this weekend, April 4-5. Coming off a first-place finish at the Patriot League Indoor Championships and after taking the No. 1 spot in the Patriot League Outdoor Preseason Poll, the Bison opened the 2008 outdoor season this past weekend, sending athletes to both the Maryland Invitational and Susquehanna's Jim Taylor Invitational. Both events did not have team scores.
Bucknell Women's Track and Field Notebook
At the Maryland Invitational, March 29 -
- Senior Amanda Mockbee (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) led the way, throwing a distance of 152-9 in the discus to win the event with an ECAC provisional standard. She topped her career best of 152-1 and maintained the second-best mark in Bucknell history. Mockbee went on to place fifth in the hammer throw (151-8) and seventh in the shot put with a distance of 40-7.
- Freshman Laura Rycek (Northamton, Pa./Northampton Area) took third in the javelin with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 136-10. She posted the second-best distance in program history.
- Sophomore Chelsey Musante (Shelton, Pa./Shelton) qualified to ECAC's with a provisional mark of 161-5 in the hammer throw for second place. She posted the 10th-best mark in Bucknell history.
- Moving into Bucknell's all-time list for the pole vault was freshman Rebecca Frey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty). She finished second with a height of 11-5 ¾, the fourth-best mark in Bucknell history.
- Sophomore Amy Mantush (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) advanced to the final for the 100-meter hurdles, finishing seventh in the prelim with a time of 15.83. She moved into sixth in the final, stopping the clock at 15.28. Mantush went on to post a fifth-place finish in the long jump, with a distance of 17-4 ¾.
At the Jim Taylor Invitational, March 29 -
- The Bison picked up two individual event wins. Freshman Eileen Foley (Herndon, Va./Chantilly) won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:46.93. Freshman Casey Krause (Cebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) led the way in the triple jump, taking first with a distance of 34-10 ½ and went on to place second in the long jump (17-1 ½).

Looking Ahead -
- Up next, the Orange and Blue will host two home meets, the Bison Outdoor Classic, April 11-12, and the Bucknell Team Challenge, April 19.
- Bucknell will send athletes to the Penn Relays, April 24-26, and to the Shippensburg Invitational, April 26, before heading to the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, hosted by Navy in Annapolis, Md., May 2-3.
- The ECAC and IC4A Championships are set for May 16-18, in Princeton, N.J. The NCAA East Regional Championships are scheduled for May 30-31, and the NCAA Championships will take place June 11-14, in Des Moines, Iowa.
