Bucknell Women's Track and Field's 4x800 Advances On Day One Of ECAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - As the first day at the 2008 ECAC Championships wrapped up Saturday, the Bucknell women's track and field team qualified its 4x800 relay team to run in the final on Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass.
Senior Mariel Fink (Pennington, N.J./Hun School of Princeton), senior Victoria Gilbert (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom), sophomore Allison Janda (Plymouth, Mich./Salem) and senior Offeibea Hanson-Hall (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) ran the 4x800 relay in a season-best time of 9 minutes, 7.76 seconds to place second in their heat and third overall. The squad advanced to the final in the event, to be run on Sunday.
Also competing for Bucknell on the first day of ECAC's was junior Megan Hathaway (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield). In the 500-meter dash, Hathaway ran a personal record and the third-fastest time in Bucknell history, 1:15.35 to place 14th.
Bucknell is set to continue the ECAC Championships on Sunday with the final of the 4x800 relay. Additionally, the following Bison will compete on Sunday: freshman Rebecca Frey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) in the pole vault, senior Amanda Mockbee (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) in the weight throw, sophomore Amy Mantush (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) in the triple jump and the Bucknell distance medley relay team of sophomore Laura Cundey (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township), sophomore Jennifer Pierce (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands), junior Jenny Dalzell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) and freshman Sarah Moniz (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional).
