Bucknell Men's Tennis Picks Up 6-1 Win Over Saint Francis (Pa.)

WILIIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team defeated Saint Francis (Pa.), 6-1, in a home match at the West Branch Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon, bringing the Bison to 2-2 on the season.
The Orange and Blue swept all three doubles matches. Senior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper School) and junior Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) defeated the Red Flash's Jeffrey Seevers and Stephen Kowalski at the No. 1 position, 8-4. At the No. 2 position, junior Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) and freshman Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) went 8-2 over Andrei Sandu and Jordan Kowalski, while freshman Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) and senior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) topped David Kirby and John Anguioni, 8-1, at the No. 3 spot.
Saint Francis (Pa.) picked up its lone win of the day at No. 1 singles with Sandu defeating Sandburg, 6-2, 3-6 and 8-10 in the tie breaker. Sophomore Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) notched a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ajay Nune at No. 2 singles, while Brenner went 6-2, 6-0 over Stephen Kowalski at No. 3. Kovic went on to beat Seevers, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 and Malloy went 6-0, 6-0 over Jordan Kowalski at No. 5. Rounding out singles play, Young was victorious over Kyle Primeau, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 6 position.
The Bison are now set to prepare to take to the road, playing Brown on Feb. 29, and Boston University on March 1, in Providence, R.I.
