Bucknell Tennis Completes Final Day of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell Invitational concluded play on Sunday, Oct. 5, with both the men's and women's tennis teams competing in doubles play. Singles and doubles flight winners for the invitational were also announced by Bucknell head coach Rebecca Helt.
Bison senior co-captain Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J/Bergen Catholic) was the winner of the Flight No. 5 men's singles bracket, while freshman Dumi Iepuras (Moldova/Germanton Friends School) was the winner of the Flight No. 5 women's singles bracket. Each won all three of their singles matches played on Friday and Saturday.
The Bison women won two doubles flights, as Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates School) and Lauren Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) were the champions of Flight No. 1, and Liz Larkin (Blue Bell, Pa./Germantown Academy) and Kirstyn Sotak (Beechwood, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) emerged at the top of Flight No. 4.
Overall, Quinnipiac won six of the eight men's singles flights, including the top four. The Bobcat pairing of John Hughes and Charlie Feldman combined to win the Flight No. 1 doubles, while pairings from Connecticut won the other three flights.
In women's action, the Huskies won three singles flights, the Bobcats and Colgate each won two and Iepuras accounted for the Bison's win. Bucknell and Connecticut split in doubles, as Huskies' teams won flights two and three.
In men's double play for the Orange and Blue, Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) and Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley) paired to win two of their three Flight No. 2 matches. They defeated Jeremy Nolt and Evan Katz of Wilkes, 6-1, and Andrew Marcus and Scott Warden of Connecticut, 6-4. Hascoe and Malloy lost to Garrett Lane and James Kwei of Quinnipiac, 6-2. Bison senior Jamie Watson (Darien, Conn./Darien) and freshman Gregory Maxson (Mt. Pleasant, S.C./Hotchkiss) also won two out of three matches, defeating the Wilkes duo of Brian Fanelli and Anthony Mirabile (6-4) and the Bobcats' Zach Tuckman and Dillon Kraus (7-6). Watson and Maxson lost their third match Dave Adams and Nic Visinsky of Connecticut, the Flight No. 4 champions.
Complete results were not immediately available for the women's side.
The Bucknell men's tennis team resumes play on Friday at the Quinnipiac Invitational in Hamden, Conn., from Oct. 10-12. The Bison women's team will next compete in the ITA Regionals from Oct. 16-18, in Norfolk, Va.
