Women's Tennis Defeats Lafayette 6-1

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's tennis ended its Patriot League regular season slate with its second conference win of the year as it defeated Lafayette 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Bison moved to 9-10 overall and 2-5 in the Patriot League with the win.
Bucknell opened the match by sweeping doubles play 3-0. Abby Platt and Riley Jennings defeated Hanna Ganchi and Alyssa Perdomo 6-1 at the No. 1 spot, Jaycie Mair and Summer Even Esh defeated Sophia Pacheco and Marie Sofia Romaniello 6-1 at the No. 2 spot and Cameron King and Natalie Devraj defeated Sophia Bald and Alexandra Waldman 7-5 at the No. 3 spot.
With a 1-0 lead heading into singles, the Bison rode the momentum and took five of the six singles matches to earn Bucknell a 6-1 lead. Platt took the No. 1 singles match 7-6(6), 6-7(4), 10-8, Tori Allen won her court three singles match 6-0, 7-6(3), Manolov took the No. 4 singles match 6-4, 6-1, Jaycie Mair won her court five match 6-1, 6-2 and Natalie Devraj took the No. 6 singles match 6-0, 6-2. The Leopards earned their lone point of the day as Perdomo defeated Jennings at the No. 2 spot 1-6, 7-6(5), 10-8.
Bucknell will next take to the courts on Sunday, April 12 at 1 p.m. against Franklin & Marshall College for its final match of the regular season. The match will be Senior Day for the Bison who are celebrating two seniors at 12:45 p.m. on the Varsity Tennis Courts prior to the start of the match.
