Bison Women's Tennis Hosts Lafayette; Franklin & Marshall

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's tennis continues its home slate as it hosts two matches this weekend to close out its regular season. The Bison open on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. against Lafayette in their final conference match of the season and then follow that up with their senior day match against Franklin & Marshall College on Sunday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
Bucknell is entering the weekend 8-10 overall and 1-5 in the Patriot League after defeating Colgate on Saturday. Lafayette enters the weekend 2-9 overall and 1-4 in the Patriot League after falling to Lehigh.Franklin & Marshall enter the weekend 4-7 overall after defeating Gettysburg.

Bucknell's Last Time Out:
- Bucknell women's tennis earned its first Patriot League win of the season on Saturday as it defeated Colgate 4-3 at home. Mirra Manolov clinched the victory for the Bison with her singles win at the No. 4 spot.
- With the win, Bucknell moves to 8-10 overall and 1-5 in the Patriot League.
- The Bison opened the match by going 2-1 in doubles play and earning the doubles point. Cameron King and Natalie Devraj first defeated Rebecca Hess and Avery Isaac 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. The Raiders then took the win at the No.1 spot to tie the doubles play at 1-1. Whoever took the No. 2 doubles match would earn the doubles point and Jaycie Mair and Summer Even-Esh defeated Carina Cristobal and Sasha Herman 6-3 to do just that.
- With the Bison up 1-0 at the start of singles play, Devraj defeated Cristobal 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot. Abby Platt then followed that up with a No.1 singles win over Amelia Galin 6-4, 6-4 to make it an early 3-0 for Bucknell. Sasha Herman then defeated Cameron King in the No. 5 spot 7-6, 6-2 to make it 3-1, but it wouldn't be enough as Manolov would then clinch the match for the Bison with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Anya Kunar at the No. 4 spot.
- After the Bison clinched the match, Colgate took the final two matches at the No. 2 and No.3 spots to make it a 4-3 contest.

- So far this spring season, the Bison have defeated Colgate,Saint Joseph's, Mount St. Mary's, Merrimack, Duquesne, Chaminade and Mercyhurst. Bucknell has fallen to Lehigh, Boston U., Temple, Army, Michigan State, Saint Francis, Villanova, University of Hawaii, Navy and Loyola (Md.).
- In the fall, at the ITA Conference Masters Championship, Abby Platt made it to the quarterfinal round, Riley Jennings was eliminated in the round-of-16 and the doubles group of Platt and Jennings lost in their quarterfinals match.
- Bucknell played in one dual match in the fall with the Bison coming out on top of Millersville 5-2, winning all doubles matches and four-of-six singles matches.
- The Bison played three tournaments in the fall, one at home and two on the road. Bucknell tested out doubles teams in the fall tournaments in order to finalize the groups heading into the spring season.
- Bucknell women's tennis ended the 2024-25 season with a heartbreaking 4-3 loss in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships to Lehigh.
- The team landed two players on the 2025 All-Patriot League squad; Whitney King earned a first-team nod and Abby Platt earned second-team honors.
- Heading into the 2025-26 season, the Bison had to restructure their lineup after losing three integral players to graduation in Whitney King, Anna Lajos and Caroline Marcus, who were all in the lineup last season.
- Seniors Abby Platt and Mirra Manolov have been named captains for the 2025-26 season.
- Outside of Platt earning Second Team All-Patriot League last season, she has also found her way onto the record book ahead of her senior season. The Texas native currently ranks 11th in Bucknell history for career doubles victories (60), is tied for 27th in career singles victories (45), ranks 19th in career combined victories (105) and is tied for 10th in single-season doubles victories (22). Last season, Platt went 10-15 in the second spot for singles play. Platt and King were doubles partners and went 18-8 in the one spot. Platt has been doubles partners with King since she first arrived as a freshman in 2022 and will now be looking for a new partner to finish out her career.
- The Bison welcomed a freshman class of three this fall; Summer Even-Esh, Katherine Purpura and Mariana Shulman.
Lafayette at a Glance
- Lafayette enters the weekend 2-9 overall and 1-4 in the Patriot League after falling to Lehigh 7-0 on Wednesday.
- The Leopards lone conference win came against Holy Cross, whom they beat 4-1.
- Lafayette has fallen to four Patriot League teams including; Colgate, Loyola (Md.), Army and Lehigh.
Franklin & Marshall College at a Glance
- Franklin & Marshall College enters the weekend 4-7 overall.
- The Diplomats are coming off of a 6-1 win over Gettysburg on the road.
- Rebecca Bellick leads the team in overall singles wins with nine on court three.
- The doubles team of Bellick and Sahara Ahmad lead the Diplomats in overall and dual doubles wins with six on court two.
