No.6 Bison Set to Play No.3 Army in Patriot League Championship Quarterfinals Friday

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's tennis landed the No. 6 seed in the 2026 Patriot League Women's Tennis Championships and will be taking on No. 3 seeded Army in the quarterfinal round on Friday, April 17. Lewisburg will be the home site for the Patriot League Championships and the Bison will play their quarterfinal match on the Varsity Tennis Courts at 1:15 p.m.
The first time these two teams met this season was back in February where the Black Knights defeated the Bison on the Varsity Tennis Courts 4-1. In the loss, Abby Platt won her No. 1 singles match to earn Bucknell a point and despite losing the doubles point, Platt and Riley Jennings won the No. 1 doubles match.

Bucknell's Last Time Out:
- Bucknell women's tennis ended its regular season on Sunday with a senior day sweep over Franklin & Marshall College 7-0 at the Varsity Tennis Courts. The Bison celebrated its two seniors, Abby Platt and Mirra Manolov prior to the match.
- Bucknell finishes the 2025-26 regular season 10-10 overall with the win over the Diplomats. Its Patriot league record remained at 2-5.
- Bucknell opened the day going 3-0 in doubles play and earning the doubles point. Abby Platt and Riley Jennings defeated Rebecca Bellick and Sahara Ahmad 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. Mirra Manolov and Jaycie Mair defeated Natalie Untermeyer and Kakie Colclough 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. Cameron King and Natalie Devraj earned the win at the No. 3 spot 6-1.
- The Bison then continued their dominance by sweeping singles play 6-0 to secure the victory. Platt won the No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-0, Manolov won the No. 2 match 7-6(3), 6-3 and King won the No. 3 match 6-4, 6-3. Three freshman earned wins on the afternoon as Mariana Shulman took the No. 4 singles match over Colclough 6-1, 6-1, Summer Even-Esh defeated Lorena Saavedra at the No. 5 spot 6-2, 6-2 and Kate Purpura won the No. 6 match 6-1, 7-(5).

- Bucknell enters the Patriot League Championships 10-10 overall and 2-5 in the Patriot League.
- Mirra Manolov leads the Bison in overall singles wins with 16 and dual singles wins with 10 across courts two, four, five and six.
- The doubles team of Abby Platt and Riley Jennings lead the team in overall doubles wins with 14 on court one.
- The doubles teams of Cameron King and Natalie Devraj lead the team in dual doubles wins with 12 on court three.
- Abby Platt earned Patriot League Women's Tennis Player of the Week twice this season (3/3, 3/31).
- So far this spring season, the Bison have defeated Lafayette, Franklin & Marshall, Colgate,Saint Joseph's, Mount St. Mary's, Merrimack, Duquesne, Chaminade and Mercyhurst. Bucknell has fallen to Lehigh, Boston U., Temple, Army, Michigan State, Saint Francis, Villanova, University of Hawaii, Navy and Loyola (Md.).
- In the fall, at the ITA Conference Masters Championship, Abby Platt made it to the quarterfinal round, Riley Jennings was eliminated in the round-of-16 and the doubles group of Platt and Jennings lost in their quarterfinals match.
- Bucknell played in one dual match in the fall with the Bison coming out on top of Millersville 5-2, winning all doubles matches and four-of-six singles matches.
- The Bison played three tournaments in the fall, one at home and two on the road. Bucknell tested out doubles teams in the fall tournaments in order to finalize the groups heading into the spring season.
- Bucknell women's tennis ended the 2024-25 season with a heartbreaking 4-3 loss in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships to Lehigh.
- The team landed two players on the 2025 All-Patriot League squad; Whitney King earned a first-team nod and Abby Platt earned second-team honors.
- Heading into the 2025-26 season, the Bison had to restructure their lineup after losing three integral players to graduation in Whitney King, Anna Lajos and Caroline Marcus, who were all in the lineup last season.
- Seniors Abby Platt and Mirra Manolov have been named captains for the 2025-26 season.
- Outside of Platt earning Second Team All-Patriot League last season, she has also found her way onto the record book ahead of her senior season. The Texas native currently ranks 11th in Bucknell history for career doubles victories (60), is tied for 27th in career singles victories (45), ranks 19th in career combined victories (105) and is tied for 10th in single-season doubles victories (22). Last season, Platt went 10-15 in the second spot for singles play. Platt and King were doubles partners and went 18-8 in the one spot. Platt has been doubles partners with King since she first arrived as a freshman in 2022 and will now be looking for a new partner to finish out her career.
- The Bison welcomed a freshman class of three this fall; Summer Even-Esh, Katherine Purpura and Mariana Shulman.
Army at a Glance
- The Black Knights enter the Patriot League Championships 21-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
- Emily Ruckno leads the Black Knights in singles victories with 21.
- Ruckno also leads Army in doubles wins with 29, seven in the No. 1 doubles spot.
