Bucknell Women's Tennis Duo Competes at ITA East Region Championships

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Bucknell women's tennis players Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates School) and Lauren Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St Paul's School for Girls) participated in the Division I Wilson/ITA East Region Championships in Philadelphia, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 25. Gamboa competed in singles play and teamed with Lucido for doubles action.
Gamboa, a senior and captain of the Bison women's tennis team, lost her singles match to Richmond's Kelly Tidwell, 6-3, 6-0. In their doubles match, Gamboa and Lucido, a sophomore, fell to Boston College's Katarina Gajic and Alina Sullivan, 8-0.
Gamboa completed the fall season with an 11-8 overall record. She has a career record of 107-104, and she is just one of seven women in Bucknell tennis history with at least 100 wins.
Lucido had a 15-3 record during the fall of 2008, and has already compiled a career record of 52-27. Her .734 winning percentage ranks her seventh in Bison history. She and Gamboa won seven of their nine doubles matches this fall.
The Bucknell women's tennis team will not compete again until Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, when it will travel to University Park, Pa., for a match with Penn State.
