Bucknell Women's Track and Field Wraps Up Bison Open and Multi

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's track and field team finished the Bison Open and Multi on Saturday evening, with sophomore Stephanie Evans (York, Pa./Central York) and sophomore Chelsey Musante (Shelton, Pa./Shelton), each posting all-time top-10 marks for the Bison.
In the final for the 60-meter dash, Evans ran a career-best time of 8.07 for fifth. Her time was the sixth-fastest in Bucknell history. Evans went on to place second in the final for the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 26.41
Musante led the Bison in the weight throw, posting a career-best mark of 50-2 for second place and the ninth-best distance in Bucknell history. Musante went on to take ninth in the shot put with a throw of 37-2 ½.
Top Finishes in running events included sophomore Laura Cundey (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) in the mile, running her season-best time of 5:18.38 to place fifth. Junior Stacey Haas (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) led Bucknell in the 400-meter dash, taking 17th in 1:03.97, while freshman Barbara Summers (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) followed in 18th (1:04.13). In the 500-meter dash, sophomore Kelcey Coffin (Somerville, N.J./Somerville) finished 14th with a time of 1:27.56. Sophomore Caroline Strunk (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) placed sixth in the 800-meter run, clocking a time of 2:24.13. In the 3,000-meter run, junior Gillian Nordquist (Clarkston, Mich,/Clarkston) led Bucknell with a fourth-place finish in 10:26.23.
In field events, freshman Casey Krause (Cebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) led the Bison in the long jump, placing fourth (17-3/4), followed by senior Denise Manero (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) in fifth (16-9 ¾). In the triple jump, freshman Alyssa Maier (Oradell, N.J./River Dell Regional) placed second with a distance of 36-2 ¾ while senior Nicole Ayala (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) followed in third (36-1 ¼). Junior Kati Dempsey (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) had the top Bison finish in the high jump, posting a height of 5-1 to tie for third.
The Bison are now set to travel to Akron, Ohio next Saturday, Feb. 2, for the Akron Open.
