LEWISBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Megan Krebs (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) netted the ball off a crossing pass from senior Kelly Hoffman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) with 1:01 left to lift the Bucknell field hockey team to a 4-3 victory over Towson at Graham field on Tuesday night.
In the last 15 minutes of play, five goals were scored, three of which by Bison players. Trailing 2-1 inside 15 minutes remaining, Bucknell netted the equalizer. Off a penalty corner, Faust fed the ball to junior Jacquie Kataneksza (Harare, Zimbabwe/Arundel School). Kataneksza's initial shot was deflected and she scored unassisted off her own rebound, tallying her second goal of the season, and leveling the score at 2-2.
With 11 minutes left in the game, freshman Kelly Bruvik (Skillman, N.J./Stuart Country Day) nearly gave the Bison the lead, but the whistle blew for a Towson foul an instant before she put the ball in the net. Bucknell kept up the offensive pressure, however, and moments later the Bison were awarded a penalty stroke after a scramble in front of the cage. Hoffman took the penalty shot and scored into the left side of the net, for her second of the season and a 3-2 Bison lead.
The lead lasted less than three minutes, however, as Towson's Kajee Murangi tallied her third of the season at 63:18, hitting a hard shot from the left side off an assist by Christine Boarman, tying the score at 3-3.

It was Krebs' third goal on the year that put the Bison ahead 4-3 at 68:59 into the contest. Krebs scored point blank after a crossing pass from Hoffman. In the final minute, the Bison were able to keep the ball on the Towson side of the field and run out the clock.
The Bison, now 3-1 on the year, had the first goal of the game at just 3:29 into play, by junior Trina Boyer (Macungie, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) off an assist from junior Amanda Faust (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) for her second of the season.
At the 10:27 mark, the Tigers' (1-2) Danielle Wacker tipped the ball in off a feed from Tiffany Moyer to even the score at the half, 1-1. Just 2:26 into the second period, Towson took a 2-1 lead when Kristie Blumer scored from the left side off a feed from Stephanie Kisic.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jessie Atieh (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) made a career-high nine saves for the Bison and sophomore Sarah Ebright (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) recorded a defensive save in the first half. Towson goalkeeper Michelle Cheek made five saves in the contest.
After two games at home, the Bison will travel to Delaware this Saturday. The game will begin at 1 p.m. on Sept. 8.
