More on the Cornell Invitational -
- Bucknell will be one of 16 teams in the field. Host Cornell will have two squads entered and will also be joined by Canisius, Dartmouth, Duquesne, Fordham, Lafayette, Lehigh, Longwood, Niagara, Rider, Robert Morris, St. Bonaventure, Siena and Towson.
- Bucknell's top player this fall, senior Stuart Lindgren (Richfield, Minn./Richfield), gets the week off. Head coach Jim Cotner's lineup consist of senior Rahul Desai (Avon, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford), junior Brian Poe (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) and the team's three Westchester County, N.Y., sophomores in Brian Bartow (Rye, N.Y./Rye Neck), Andrew Cohen (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) and Jeff Pike (Rye, N.Y./Rye).
- Sophomore Ryan Schneiter (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) will also be making the trip to Ithaca and will play unattached.
- Bucknell shot 900 as a team at the 2006 Cornell Invitational and finished in fifth place out of 15 teams, 14 strokes behind champion Rider. Charlie Waddell tied for fourth individually. The only Bison in this weekend's lineup who played last year was Desai, who shot 75-76-74 and tied for 14th.
- This will be the fifth straight year Bucknell has attended the Cornell Invitational. The Bison have finished in the top five each year. Prior to placing fifth last season, they took third in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
About the Bison in 2007 -
- Last weekend the Bison had to make a few late lineup adjustments, and the team shot a respectable 304-300 to place ninth at the Leo Keenan Invitational, hosted by St. Bonaventure.
- Lindgren continued his torrid play to start the season. One week after winning the Bucknell Invitational, Lindgren shot 72-71 at St. Bonaventure to finished tied for fourth. Coming into the season, his career-low round was 75, but in seven rounds this fall his average is a team-best 72.4, and he has shot 75 or better six times.
- Poe is another Bison who was somewhat unheralded coming into the season, but is playing terrific golf thus far. Poe turned in his third straight top-20 finish with a T-16th (73-74) last week. He has five straight round of 74 or better and is averaging 73.7 for the fall.
- Desai played himself out of contention with an uncharacteristic 80 in the first round last weekend, but he rebounded nicely with a 73. After finishing second and third in the first two weeks of the season, Desai has a solid 73.7 average.
- Bucknell's team scoring average is 295.9 through three events.
Looking Ahead -
- The Bison are back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Delaware Invitational.
