Bucknell Tennis to Host Colgate in Patriot League Matchup

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell tennis squads will host Patriot League rival Colgate on Sunday, Apr. 8, at the Bucknell Varsity Tennis Courts. The women, who are 3-11, will play their first Patriot League match, while the men, who currently have a mark of 6-10 (0-2 PL), look to win their first league match of the season. The matches will begin at 11 a.m. However, the Bison match scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 7, against Fairleigh Dickinson, has been cancelled due to the recent cold front that has entered the area and will not be rescheduled.
On the men's side, junior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper) leads the team in singles victories with a mark of 9-5, all coming in the No. 1 spot. He currently sits fifth all-time at Bucknell with 93 career wins. Freshman Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, N.J./Brunswick), who plays in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, has posted a record of 7-8, while sophomore Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) stands at 7-9, in the No. 2 thru the No. 5 spots in the lineup.
In doubles, sophomore Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) and Brenner have teamed up to post a team-best nine victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. The pair of Reibeisen and junior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) has recorded a mark 6-4, while playing in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. In the No. 3 spot, the pair of Hascoe and sophomore Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) has tallied a record of 6-3 in the No. 3 spot.
For the women, freshman Tania Varela (Quito, Ecuador/Alliance Academy) holds a record of 4-2, since her return to the Bison lineup. Sophomore Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates), who currently sits 18th all-time with 57 career victories, has recorded a mark of 4-10, in the No.1 and No. 2 spots. Freshman Carlin Calcaterra (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) also has a 4-10 record, while playing in the No. 1 thru the No. 4 spots.
The team of sophomore Ashley Globerman (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown) and Varela has tallied a 4-2 doubles mark in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. The pair of Gamboa and Calcaterra holds a 5-9 record, while also playing in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
