WEXFORD, Pa. - Sophomores Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) and Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) got the Bison off to a great start defeating Sean Curley and David Pinto, 8-0, in the No. 2 doubles as the Bucknell men's tennis squad picked up its first victory of the season defeating Robert Morris 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Oxford North Athletic Club in Wexford, Pa. The Bison stands at 1-1 on the season.
The team of juniors Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper School) and Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) won their second-straight No. 1 doubles match beating David Yokitis and Cyrus Manouchehrian, 8-2, while sophomore Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) freshman Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) won 8-2 in the No. 3 spot, defeating Ryan Cameron and Nick Paganetti.
Reibeisen took down Cameron in the No.1 spot, improving to 2-0 this season, while Sandburg picked up his first dual singles victory over Curley, 6-1, 6-2, in the No. 2 spot. Brenner held off Paganetti in a third set super-breaker, 6-3, 3-6, 10-8, in the No. 3 spot.
Hascoe improved to 2-0 in dual singles action in the No. 4 spot defeating Pinto, 6-3, 6-1, while Bednarek dropped T.J. Delorie, 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore Sidharth Makkar (Queens, N.Y./Bronx School of Science) collected was victorious over Manouchehrian, 6-3, 6-0.
The Bucknell men's tennis team will face Connecticut on Friday, Feb. 9, in Hamden, Conn. at 6 p.m.
