STANTON, Del. -- Sophomore Andrew Cohen (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) shot a 1-under-par 71 to help the Bucknell men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Scotty Duncan Memorial, which wrapped up Sunday at White Clay Creek Golf Course.
Cohen's final round was tied for the best in the 16-team, 86-player field, and he finished tied for second individually with a 36-hole total of 145. That was two shots behind winner Sean Semenetz of Drexel.
Bucknell entered the day in third place, and they needed Cohen's terrific round to stay there, as the rest of the squad struggled. After shooting 292 on Saturday, the Bison finished up with a 313 and held off James Madison and Navy by only two shots for third place.
Iona and Cornell began the day tied for the team lead, and both shot 308 on Sunday to share the title.
Stuart Lindgren (Richfield, Minn./Richfield) saw his streak of six straight rounds of 73 or better end with an 82, and he slipped from seventh place to 21st. Also for Bucknell on Sunday, freshman Ben Mattingly (Fishers, Ind./Park Tudor) shot 79 to finish tied for 17th, sophomore Jeff Pike (Rye, N.Y./Rye) shot 81 and freshman Parker Phillips (Laguna Beach, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal) shot 85.
The Bison are back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Hofstra Invitational at Bethpage State Park.
