Bucknell Women's Golf Improves on Day 2 of Rutgers Invitational, Finishes T-5th

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Freshman Katie Jurenovich (Warren, Ohio/Howland) shot a career-best 77 and all five Bucknell players improved on their first-round scores, as the Bison women's golf squad finished in a tie for fifth place at the Rutgers Invitational. Chopping 16 strokes off Saturday's team total, Bucknell shot 325 on Sunday and 666 for the tournament, placing them in a three-way tie for fifth alongside host Rutgers and USC Upstate.
Bethune-Cookman won the team title with a 624 total, nine shots better than runner-up Yale. St. John's was third at 642, followed by Siena at 645.
Jurenovich secured her first top-ten finish, with her 83-77 performance placing her in a six-way tie for ninth.
Also for Bucknell, Kristen Phalen (Duxbury, Mass./Tabor Academy) shot 84-82 and tied for 30th, Emily Chiodo (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) shot 87-82, Amy Loughney (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) had 87-85, and Kathryn Batchelor (Lawrenceville, N.J./Princeton Day School) rebounded with an 84 after a first-round 97.
Ellie Brophy of Yale won the individual title with scores of 76-74.
The Bison will be right back in action on Monday and Tuesday at the Richmond Spider Invitational.
