Day One is Over at the Sam Howell Invite for Bucknell Track & Field

PRINCETON, N.J. - Bucknell track and field completed the first day of competition at the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational on Friday evening at the Weaver Track and Field Stadium in Princteon, N.J. Juniors Lauren Bricker (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) and Matt Forys (Howell, N.J./Howell) each hit the ECAC/IC4A qualifying marks in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Running in the 5000 on the men's side was sophomore Michael Gibney (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River), turning in a final time of 15 minutes, 27.4 seconds, while classmate Erin Cranmer-Hart (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) crossed the finish line in 17:48.4 in the women's event.
In the discus, junior Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) placed second with a heave of 150 feet, 6 inches, matching her previous personal-best mark, which ranks second on the Bison top-10 list. Sophomore Amanda Mockbee (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) placed third in the event.
Bricker landed a spot at the ECAC's with a final time of 10:52.97, earning a second-place finish overall and a second-place finish on Bucknell's all-time list, while Forys clocked a third-place time of 9:09.72 to win a place at the IC4A's.
Also in the women's steeple, junior Rebecca Pierotti (Hazleton, Pa./Bishop Hafey) turned in a time of 11:35.97, while sophomore Christine Totten (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) crossed the line in 11:43.86.
Action at the invite will conclude on Saturday with events both on the track and in the field.
