LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell track and field program received another weekly honor on Tuesday as junior Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) was named the Patriot League Female Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 10-16.
At the Bison Outdoor Classic, on April 14-15, Sawko took second place in both the 800 and 1500-meter runs with times of 2 minutes, 11.40 seconds and 4:28.28, respectively.
The 1500 time broke the Bucknell school record, which she previously owned, and qualified her for the ECAC Championships. She also qualified for the ECAC's in the 800, while at the Classic.
Currently, Sawko ranks first in the 1500 (4:28.28) and second in the 800 (2:11.40) in the Patriot League.
Sawko and the rest of the Orange and Blue will return to action at the Bucknell Quadrangular, at the Christy-Mathewsom-Memorial Stadium, in Lewisburg, Pa., on April 22.
