Bucknell Men's Golf in Tie for Ninth at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Local product Ben Pellicani (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) shot a 1-over-par 72 on Friday to lead Bucknell to an opening-round score of 302 at the Navy Invitational. The Bison are tied for ninth place with 18 more holes to come on Saturday.
Pellicani is tied for seventh place individually, six shots behind Navy's Erich Schoen, who shot a 5-under 66. Also for Bucknell, Charlie Waddell (Wilmette, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) shot 74 and is tied for 18th, Kyle Moran (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick School) shot 76, Patrick Yingling (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield Area) carded an 80 and Tom Lane (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) had an 81.
Behind Schoen's 66, Navy's "Gold" team took the lead with a first-round total of 289. George Washington is in second place at 290, followed by Villanova at 292 and Loyola and Emory each at 294.
Besides Navy, Bucknell is ahead of each of the other three Patriot League teams in the field. Lehigh opened with a 308, Lafayette shot 310 and Colgate 313. The Patriot League Championship will be contested at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course next weekend.
