The Bucknell track and field program concluded action at the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational on Saturday evening, in Princeton, N.J. Freshman Kerry Boyle (Hazleton,Pa./Hazleton) earned another place on the Bison top-10 list, clocking in a 400-meter time of 55.34, good enough for a seventh place finish in the record books.
On the women's side junior Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) won the hammer with a heave of 178 feet, 8 inches and landed in second place on Bucknell's top-10 list. Sophomore Amanda Mockbee (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) took fifth in the event and marked the third-best throw in the school's history with a throw of 149.
In the women's pole vault, junior Melanie Buczko (Butler, Pa./Butler) once again dominated in the event, this time with a winning mark of 12-3 1/2.
Junior Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.46, while freshman Megan Hathaway (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagra Wheatfield) took third in the 400 (59.95).
In the 3000, junior Jenny Stevens (Laceyville, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) took second and just missed a place on the Bucknell top-to list with a time of 10:14.32. Senior Leanna Nastase (Beaverdale, Pa./Forest Hills) finished fifth in the event with a time of 10:21.72.
Freshman Kati Dempsey (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) took fifth in the high jump with a season's best leap of 5-5 and earned a fifth-place ranking in the Orange and Blue record books, while sophomore Beverly Rogers (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) marked a javelin toss of 124-4. Dempsey also earned a third place finish in the long jump, with a personal best mark of 18-2 1/2, tying her for seventh place in the Orange and Blue record books.

On the men's side, Boyle's time earned him an overall second-place finish in the event.
In the pole vault, sophomore David Mante (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) took third with a mark of 15-1, while junior Josh Kaehler (Hanover, Pa./South Western) took second in the javelin, recording a heave of 181-7.
Junior John MarcFeeters (Haddon Field, N.J./Large) clocked a time of 15:49 in the 110 hurdles, good enough for fifth overall, while sophomore Mark Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) turned in an 800 time of 1:55.49.
Senior Dan Frake (Northport, N.Y./Northport) took fifth in the hammer (185-04), while the 4x400 team of Boyle, senior Matt Corbetta (Port Chester, N.Y./Port Chester), junior Eric Guja (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and sophomore Brian Mooney (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) won the event (3:24.16).
"I thought our athletes responded very well to the rain and cold weather," said head coach Kevin Donner. "This will prepare them for any kind of weather we may encounter at the Patriot League Championships."
