LEWISBURG, Pa. - With spring practice kicking off this week, three new assistant coaches are getting in their first workouts with the Bucknell football team. Ashley Ingram, who spent the last six seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Rhode Island, takes over as Bucknell's new offensive coordinator. Also joining head coach Tim Landis' staff are defensive line coach Pat Kingman and safeties coach Steve Vashel.
Ingram, who will also coach the Bison offensive line, takes over the reins of Bucknell's spread option offense. At Rhode Island he served as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator, while also serving as team liaison in the areas of admissions, academic progress, class registration and scheduling.
Ingram is intimately familiar with the option offense, as Rhode Island employs a very similar system. In fact, during his tenure there, the Rams led the Atlantic 10 in rushing in each of the last four seasons, and they led the nation in rushing yards in 2003. At Rhode Island Ingram mentored six All-Atlantic 10 performers and one All-American, and he was part of an outstanding 8-3 season in 2001.
A native of Iron City, Ga., and a 1996 graduate of the University of North Alabama, Ingram was a four-year letterman on the offensive line and helped his team win Division II national titles in 1993, 1994 and 1995. He entered the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant, first at North Alabama in 1997, then at Temple University in 1998. After spending a year at North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Ga., he became the offensive line coach at the University of West Alabama in 1999, then at Rhode Island in 2000.
Ingram also holds a master's degree in education from North Alabama. He replaces former offensive coordinator Tim Camp, who left Bucknell during the offseason to become the associate head coach at Eastern Oregon University.

Kingman comes to Bucknell from Harvard, where he served as assistant defensive line coach for two seasons. He was part of the Crimson's 2004 Ivy League championship season and helped lead the team to a two-year record of 17-3.
At Bucknell Kingman will coach the defensive line, replacing Jim Reid, who accepted the head coaching position at Virginia Military Institute in December. Kingman is a 1999 graduate of Springfield College, where he played linebacker and defensive end. He earned a master's degree in physical education with a concentration in athletics administration in 2004. While working toward his master's at Springfield, he served as a graduate assistant coach for two seasons, working with the defensive linemen. Springfield won conference titles and earned NCAA Tournament berths both seasons, when it posted a combined record of 18-3.

Like Kingman, Vashel is also a Springfield graduate. He played free safety there before earning a bachelor's degree in 1991 and a master's degree in 1994. Vashel has coached at the collegiate level for 15 years, beginning in 1991 as an intern assistant coach at Trinity College.
In 1992 he returned to Springfield as a graduate assistant, then he moved on to Harvard in 1994. A year later Vashel was hired as defensive backs and punt returners coach at King's College in nearby Wilkes-Barre, Pa. After three seasons at King's, he became the defensive coordinator at Bates College, where he has worked since the spring of 1999.
At Bucknell, Vashel will coach the Bison safeties. On Landis' staff he replaces former assistant Steve Perry, who was hired at Montana State earlier this month.
