WORCESTER, Mass. -
The Bucknell women's lacrosse team fell to Holy Cross by a final score of 16-8 on Sunday afternoon on the Hart Turf field in Worcester, Mass. The loss pushes the Bison to 0-2 in Patriot League play, as they are still in search of their first league win.
The Orange and Blue scored the first goal of the game, but the lead did not last long as Holy Cross answered with five straight goals.
The Bison retaliated with three goals of their own, but still finished the first half on the short end of a 10-4 score.
Holy Cross opened the second half with a goal, which was answered with a goal by freshman Sarah Collins (Goldens Bridge, N.Y./John Jay), followed by a tally from senior Emily Burman (Kensington, Md./Stone Ridge).
Bucknell went on to score two more goals, but just could not gain any ground on the Holy Cross lead.
Collins finished the day with three goals, while freshman Jackie Bodnar (Madison, N.J./Madison) finished with three.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper Lizzy McDaniel (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) had nine saves, while sophomore Lauren Deitrich (Collegeville, Pa./Hill) finished the day with three groundballs and two caused turnovers.
The Bison will return to action at home on Saturday, March 25, against Virginia Tech, schedule for 1 p.m. The next Patriot League match-up will take place on April 1, as the Orange and Blue host Colgate. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
