LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the third time this season Hope Foster (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) was named the Patriot League Women's Basketball Player of the Week Monday. The junior forward totaled 18 points and eight rebounds in a 64-50 loss to Coppin State Saturday in the only game of the week for the Bison.
Foster, who ranks 57th in the nation in field goal percentage at 53.5 percent, was 7-for-13 from the field against the Eagles and she led Bucknell in scoring for the seventh time this season. Her eight rebounds, which included a pair on the offensive end of the floor, also paced the squad. The Patriot League's leading rebounder at 9.3 per game, Foster has led the Bison in boards every game this year.
Foster is also among the Patriot League leaders in free throw percentage at 77.4 percent. She went 4-for-5 from the line against Coppin State, ending a 5-for-12 skid that followed her making 24 consecutive free throws earlier this season.
The fourth-leading scorer in the Patriot League at 14.8 points per game, Foster really excels on defense, where she stands third in that nation in blocked shots at 4.4 per game. She has 48 blocks this year, which is fourth on Bucknell's single-season list. However, she has registered more than two blocks in a game just once in her last four games and had just one rejection against Coppin State.
After a pair of road games, the Bison return home to Sojka Pavilion Tuesday night against Binghamton. The contest is slated for 7 p.m.
