LEWISBURG, Pa. -
For the second time this fall, Bucknell senior Charlie Waddell (Wilmette, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) has been named the Patriot League Golfer of the Month. Waddell competed in three tournaments in the month of October, and he finished in the top 10 in all three, including a victory at the Mulekicker Fall Classic on Oct. 7-8 at West Point GC.
Waddell shot 71-70 for a 1-over-par total at Army's tournament, and he claimed the individual title on the third playoff hole while leading the Bison to a third-place finish. The following week he placed second at Lehigh's Don Mershon Classic, and last weekend he tied for eighth place in Bucknell's team victory at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational.
Waddell, the Patriot League individual champion in both 2005 and 2006, played in all seven of Bucknell's fall events and finished in the top eight in seven of them. He had one victory and three runner-up finishes, and his stroke average of 73.3 broke a school single-season record that had stood since the spring of 1975. Chick Wagner, a member of the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame, recorded a 73.8 average that season.
The Bison begin their 2007 spring season on March 24 at the George Washington Invitational in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
