Bucknell Women's Swimming & Diving Ties Lafayette and Falls to Navy

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's swimming and diving squad saw two top-10 marks fall from its record books, but the Bison were unable to come away with a win on Saturday afternoon in Kinney Natatorium, tying Layfayette, 150-150 and falling to Navy, 200-100. Following the day's results, Bucknell is 1-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 against Patriot League opponents.
The 200 medley relay squad of freshman Courtney Warren (Montour Falls, N.Y,./Watkins Glen), sophomore Kelly Morris (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen), senior Katherine Munson (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) and senior Rebecca Scheffter (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) turned in the runner-up time in the event, one minute, 48.81 seconds, which is the 10th-fastest time in Bucknell history.
Morris broke into the Bison record books as an individual, as well, as her time of 1:08.20 in the 100 breast was good for third in the meet and ranks 10th all-time. Morris also collected a fourth-place finish in the 200 breast, touching the wall in 2:29.56.
Senior Laura Goeller (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill School) was one of three Bison swimmers to record second-place showings on the afternoon as she was the runner-up in the 400 IM with a time of 4:37.87. In additon, she took third in the 200 back, finishing in 2:09.17. Munson and senior Nikki Woodward (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) were the other two members of the Orange and Blue to post runner-up finishes, Munson in the 200 fly (2:08.39) and Woodward in the 200 breast (2:27.19).
Woodward placed in the top four in two more events as she was third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:42.43 and came in fourth in the 100 breast in 1:08.40.
On the boards, freshmen Rebecca Bersani (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and Eliza Massie (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) led Bucknell's diving contingent as Bersani was the runner-up in the three-meter, scoring 233.00 points and Massie posted a mark of 235.30 to take second in the one-meter.
Rounding out the top finishers for the Bison with third place showings by junior Kristen Skroski (North Haven, Conn./Hopkins) in the 1,000 free (10:43.25) and Warren in the 100 back (1:00.47).
Bucknell continues its home stint next Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18 and 19, as the squad will play host to the Bucknell Trials/Finals Invitational in Kinney Natatorium, with events beginning at 10 a.m. on both days.
