LEWISBURG, Pa - On Wednesday, junior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper) was named Patriot League Men's Tennis Player of the Month for his outstanding play in October. The junior posted a 12-4 record overall, going 7-2 in singles and 5-2 in doubles.
The Armonk, N.Y. native notched a 2-1 mark at the Bucknell Invitational defeating Quinnipiac's Andrew Chan, 6-2, 6-1, and UConn's Ben Schueler, 6-2, 6-0, in straight-sets. In doubles action, Reibeisen teamed with junior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan). The duo lost to a team from Quinnipiac, 9-7, but took down pairs from UConn and UMBC, 8-3 and 9-8(5), respectively.
Reibeisen notched his first Flight 1 title of the fall season at the Quinnipiac Invitational. He dropped Angelo Sica of Holy Cross, Stefano Salvatore of Quinnipiac, and Jon Fernando of Fairfield in route to the championship match against Andrew Chan. Reibeisen won in straight-sets, 6-1, 7-5, over Chan. Reibeisen would try for his first tournament doubles title that same weekend as he teamed with Young to defeat Sacred Heart 8-0, Holy Cross, 9-7, and UConn, 8-4, to earn a spot in the finals. The duo would come up short as they fell to Fairfield, 6-8.
Reibeisen rounded out the month of October by taking part in the ITA Regionals. He posted a first round victory over Alfredo Fernandez Cocha of Lafayette, 6-1, 6-1, but lost his second round matchup to Harvard's Chris Clayton, 1-6, 4-6.
