Bucknell's Amanda Brown Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the second consecutive week Bucknell's Amanda Brown (Richardson, Texas/L.V. Berkner) was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week Tuesday. It is the fourth time in the last six weeks a Bison player has been honored.
In Bucknell's 88-51 win over Navy in the Patriot League opener on Saturday, Brown netted a game-high 21 points and dished out a career-high six assists. She also grabbed four rebounds. Nineteen of her points came in the second half of the game, which was the fourth-largest victory in Bison history. Brown knocked down all four of her 3-point attempts and made 6 of 8 overall from the field.
Earlier in the week Brown made her first career start and scored 16 points, snared four rebounds and registered a team-high four assists as Bucknell fell to Stony Brook 65-56 at Sojka Pavilion.
The team's leading scorer at 11.5 points per game, Brown has reached the 20-point plateau a team-high three times and is averaging 18.5 points per game in her two starts. The only Bison with a positive assist-to-turnover ratio, Brown has 31 assists to just 25 turnovers while averaging more than 29 minutes per game.
Last week Brown became the third different Bucknell player to win the PL Rookie of the Week award tis year, following classmates Corrine Keller (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) and Lauren Schober (Chicago, Ill./Regina Dominican). Brown is the second two-time winner of the award this year. Colgate's Gretchen Polinski earned the honor the first two weeks of the season.
Bucknell, which has won four consecutive road games, plays at American Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m.
