LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior Adam Freeman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) posted a new personal-best with a score of 292.87 in the three-meter dive to move up to third all-time in program history and picked up two individual wins to help the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team capture a 171-70 victory over Delaware on Friday evening in Kinney Natatorium.
Freeman, the current Patriot League Male Diver of the Week, won three-meter dive and also took first in the one-meter dive with a mark of 268.87.
Senior Todd Bauer (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) was a double-winner for the Bison as well, as he picked up victories in the 200 free with a team season-best time of 1:44.51 and in the 500 free with a time of 4:44.40.
Freshman Patrick Stummer (Fulton, N.Y.) won the 1000 free in 9:56.36, the best time posted by a member of the Bucknell squad so far this season. Sophomore Theo Leriotis (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional Senior High) and freshman Nicholas Hanes (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) swam team-season bests on their way to individual victories as well. Leriotis took first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:14.25 and Hanes captured the top spot in the 200 back with a time of 1:55.51, while also finishing third in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.11.
Sophomore John Peterman (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) won the 50 free in 21.84 and finished second in the 100 free with a time of 47.79, while junior Matt Crandell (Winchester, Va./John Handley) and senior William Schilling (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) rounded out Bucknell's individual winners, Crandell in the 200 fly with a time of 1:55.87 and Schilling in the 200 breast (2:09.47).
The 400 medley relay team of senior Mark Kretzer (Northport, N.Y./Harborfields), sophomore Bradford Bennett (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area), Crandell and sophomore Grant Steadman (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) also posted a victory for the Bison with a team-season best time of 3:31.48.
Other top performances for the Orange and Blue included freshman Christopher Amato (East Norwich, N.Y.) collecting two runner-up finishes, taking second in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.60 and in the 500 free with a time of 4:50.05 and sophomore Matthew McGraw (Penfield, N.Y./Freeport) capturing second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:16.41 and third in the 200 back with a time of 1:59.35.
Bucknell will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 4, when the team will travel to Bethlehem, Pa., to take on Patriot League foe Lehigh beginning at 11 a.m.
