Bucknell's Women's Track and Field Team Win Black Squirrel Invitational

KENT, Ohio - Bucknell's women's track and field team collected 113.75 points to place first out of seven teams at the Black Squirrel Invitational, held in Kent, Ohio, on Saturday, Jan. 14. The men's team took home a fourth-place finish.
Winning events on the women's side was junior Marjorie Grap (Van Etten/Spencer-Van Etten) who once again dominated in the weight throw with a heave of 59 feet, 1 1/4 inches, shattering her own school record of 58-9 1/4 and qualifying for the ECAC Championships, which will take place towards the end of the indoor season.
Junior Jenny Stevens (Laceyville, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) won the 3000-meter run with a time of 10 minutes, 21.65 seconds, while sophomore Erin-Cranmer Hart (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock Area) took second (10:23.15).
Freshman Gillian Nordquist (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) took home a first-place finish in the 5000 (18:54.2), while junior Mollie Harms (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) also scored for the Bison with a second-place finish (19:06.6).
Junior Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) won the 800 (2:15.44), while senior Kayla Halloran (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) took the title in the mile run (5:13.95).
Junior Melanie Buczko (Butler, Pa./Butler Area), who also finished third in the 60-hurdles (9.20), took second in the pole vault with a leap of 11-11 3/4, which was high enough to qualify for the ECAC Championships.
The distance medley relay team, comprised of Cranmer-Hart, junior Kat Allen (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga), sophomore Victoria Gilbert (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) and Haloran, took home the number one slot (12:24.31), while the 4x400 scored points with a number two finish (3:58.47). On the 4x400 team was Allen, freshman Megan Hathaway (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagra Wheatfield), junior Catherine Trentacoste (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and Sawko.
On the men's side, junior Matt Forys (Howell, N.J./Howell) finished first in the 5000 (15:03.5), with senior Kevin Fortkiewicz (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) and junior Chris Nocera (Ellwood City, Pa./Lincoln) close behind in second and third place (15:14.2, 15:51.0), respectively.
The distance medley relay team, comprised of junior Mark Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon), senior Matt Corbetta (Port Chester, N.Y./Port Chester), senior Kevin Brown (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and sophomore Wallace Campbell (Montgomery, Ala./Montgomery Acad.) won the event with a time of 10:08.91 and qualified for the IC4A Championships.
Junior Tyler Hoffman (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) placed sixth in the weight throw with a personal best throw of 56-7 1/4, ranking him sixth on Bucknell's top-10 list and earning him a spot at the IC4A Championships.
Freshman Kevin Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) earned a sixth-place ranking in the Bison record books in the 60, with a time of 7.31.

Freshman Ryan Robinson (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) won the high jump with a personal-best leap of 6-6 1/4, and etched his way into the Bucknell record books as the seventh-best Bison in the event.
Brown finished second in the mile run (4:19.41), while freshman Kerry Boyle (Hazelton, Pa./Hazleton) took third in the 400 with a time of 49.54, placing fourth in the Orange and Blue's record books.
The 4x400 team, containing Corbetta, Boyle, sophomore Brian Mooney (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) and junior Matt Bonelli (Califon, N.J./Pingry School) took third with a time of 3:19.29 and placed second in the Bucknell record books.
The Orange and Blue will return to action on Jan. 21 as it hosts the Bucknell Heptagonal, in Lewisburg, Pa.
