Bison Women's Golf Finishes 14th at Notre Dame Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Bucknell women's golf team made its first appearance at the Notre Dame Invitational over the weekend, and the Bison placed 14th in the star-studded field. Bucknell wrapped up its first tournament of the 2005-06 season with 36 holes on Sunday and turned in rounds of 336 and 339.
Teri Schlang improved on her opening-round 86 with rounds of 79 and 80 on Sunday, and her 46th-place finish was tops on the squad. Kathryn Batchelor (84-88-82) and Emily Chiodo (79-87-88) tied for 62nd place. Amy Loughney (82-84-90) tied for 68th, while Kristen Phalen (85-86-89) took 73rd.
With a 1,005 total, the Bison finished ahead of Western Illinois (1046), IUPUI (1056) and St. Mary's (Ind.) (1093) in the 17-team field.
Host Notre Dame won the event with a 54-hole total of 929. Toledo, backed by a tournament-best round of 304 to close the weekend, finished second at 938. Georgetown (945), Bradley (948) and Eastern Michigan (949) rounded out the top five.
Bucknell returns to action in two weeks at the Princeton Invitational.
