Beverly Rogers and Christa Sawko Garner Weekly ECAC Track and Field Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Beverly Rogers (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) and Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) were named the ECAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their exceptional performances at last weekend's Bucknell Five-Way in Lewisburg, Pa. The Bison women dominated the meet with 282 points, posting a 159-point win over Robert Morris in second place.
Rogers, the reigning Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week, won the javelin competition last Saturday with a season-best toss of 148-7, reaching both the ECAC and NCAA Regional qualifying standard. The freshman bettered her own school record of 145-3, set at Susquehanna University in late March. The frosh has been impressive all season, winning the event in three of five competitions. She currently holds the best mark in the Patriot League this season. The ECAC award is the second on the season for Rogers, who first garnered the honor during the week of March 27.

Sawko, who is the current Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week, took top honors in the 800-meters last weekend, for her second-consecutive win in the event. The sophomore crossed the finish line in an ECAC qualifying time of 2:10.97. Sawko teamed with fellow Bison Monique Boley, Lauren Bricker, and Amy Calvo to win the 4x400-meter relay in a Bucknell season-best time of 3:52.27, also the best time in the PL this season. She also owns the top ranked individual time in the 800 in the PL and the third-best time in the 1,500-meters.
Bucknell will head to Philadelphia the week for the Penn Relays. Competition begins on Thursday, April 28 and runs through Saturday, April 30. Some Bucknell athletes will compete at the Lehigh Games in Bethlehem, Pa., also on April 30.
