LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman Beverly Rogers (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) and sophomore Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Mountoursville Area) have been named the Patriot League Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their efforts at last weekend's Bucknell Five-Way. The Bison duo helped the team to a convincing 159 point victory over the rest of four-team field at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
Rogers won the javelin in record-breaking fashion, throwing a season-best mark of 148-7 (45.30m). The throw broke her own school record in the event and also met ECAC and NCAA Regional qualifying standards. Her performance also leads the Patriot League this season. The award is the second of the spring for Rogers, who garnered both PL and ECAC Field Athlete of the Week honors during the week of March 27.

The time is ranked first in the Patriot League as Sawko's best 800 time (2:09.52) is also the best in the PL. Prior to this week, Sawko has received PL recognition on two occasions, winning the award on Jan. 23 and Apr. 11.
Bucknell will head to Philadelphia the week for the Penn Relays. Competition begins on Thursday, April 28 and runs through Saturday, April 30. Some Bucknell athletes will compete at the Lehigh Games in Bethlehem, Pa., also on April 30.
