RINGOES, N.J. - Despite resting several regular starters with the Patriot League Championship looming this weekend, the Bucknell men's golf team cruised to a 10-shot victory, defending its 2004 title, at the St. Peter's Invitational on Tuesday at Heron Glen Golf Club. Patrick Yingling paced the Bison with a 1-under-par 71, good for a second-place finish in the individual standings.
Bucknell shot 303 as a team to outplay Fairfield (313), Wagner (314), Monmouth (319), La Salle (322), Fairleigh Dickinson (326), St. Peter's (331), Lafayette (335) and Manhattan (339) followed.
Also for Bucknell, Alex Dolle shot 76, Stuart Lindgren and Ryan Hom 78 and Tyler Braun 81. Yingling's 71 tied his career best - he also shot 71 at this event last season.
The victory was Bucknell's third of the 2004-05 season. In the fall, the Bison won both the Colgate Invitational and the Bucknell Invitational.
Bucknell is the host team for the Patriot League Championship, which gets underway Saturday with 36 holes of play at the Bucknell Golf Club.
