LEWISBURG, Pa. - Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) has been named the ECAC Division I Field Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance at last weekend's Duke Invitational, in Durham, N.C. The sophomore, who is also the reigning Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week, met ECAC qualifying standards in both the discus and the hammer over the weekend.
Grap's personal-best toss of 150-6 (45.88m) in the discus, was good for second place on the day, and is the second-best throw in the Bison record books. In the hammer competition, Grap heaved a distance of 162-11 (49.66m) to finish eighth in the field. The sophomore also recorded a seventh place finish in the shot put with a mark of 43-0.25 (13.11m).
Grap is the third-consecutive Bison athlete to claim the ECAC award with teammates Beverly Rogers and Melanie Buczko representing Bucknell in previous weeks.
The Bison track and field team will be at home this weekend with the Bison Outdoor Classic on Friday, Apr. 16, and Saturday, Apr. 16, at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The action is set to begin in the late afternoon on Friday and pick back up on Saturday morning.
