BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore Marjorie Grap finished ninth in the 20-pound weight throw as the Bucknell women's track and field team ended competition at the ECAC Championships, Sunday in Boston, Mass. Grap's toss of 55-08.25 was just .75 inches from eighth place and the final scoring position.
The team of Christa Sawko, Kat Allen, Vicki Gilbert and Erin Cranmer-Hart finished the distance medley relay in 12:04, good for fourth place in their heat. Sawko, who was mistakenly listed as qualifier for today's 800-meter final in yesterday's results, did not compete in the final.
The Bison women scored 13 total points to finish in a three-way tie for 20th place overall with Princeton and Navy. Pittsburgh won the meet with 86.75.
The Bison men also finished up the weekend at the IC4A Championships as senior Mike Mellas placed 12th in the heptathlon with 4,768, a personal-best mark.
This weekend concludes the indoor season for the Bison men's team and the majority of the women's team. Sophomore Melanie Buczko still has a chance of going to NCAA Championships on March 11-12 in Fayetteville, Ark. At press time, Buczko's personal-best leap of 13-05.25 is tied for the 14th best jump in the nation. Buczko's NCAA fate will be determined early this week.
