LEWISBURG, Pa. - Former Bucknell women's basketball star Molly Creamer '03 will have her jersey retired during a ceremony at halftime of Wednesday's Bucknell-Holy Cross women's basketball game at Sojka Pavilion. The all-time leading scorer in the history of the Bison program will join Jen Walz as the only two Bucknell players to have their jerseys hung from the wall of Sojka Pavilion.
The Bison and Crusaders will tip-off at 7 p.m. Bucknell's four seniors will be honored prior to the game in recognition of their final home game. Creamer will be on hand at Sojka Pavilion for the halftime ceremony to retire her No. 23 jersey.
Creamer, who was the 10th overall selection in the 2003 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty, is the all-time leading scorer at Bucknell and was named both a 2003 NCAA Division I Kodak/Women's Basketball Coaches All-American and an Associated Press All-American following her senior season.
A native of Mendham, N.J., Creamer is the only women's basketball player to garner Patriot League Player of the Year accolades three consecutive years. As a senior, she averaged a school and league record 27.1 points per game. At the conclusion of her storied career, Creamer owned 22 school records and 13 Patriot League standards, including the career scoring record of 2,462 points for a career average of 21.0 points per game.
Along with her scoring prowess, Creamer was also an unselfish player as she totaled 593 assists in her career, second on Bucknell's all-time list. Creamer led the Patriot League in scoring and assists an unprecedented three consecutive years. Her single-game high was a 14-assist performance against Lehigh as a junior.
Also as a junior, Creamer helped lead the Bison to their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. During an 80-56 loss to Baylor in the first round Creamer scored a team-high 18 points.
Since graduating with a degree in history in 2003, Creamer has played professionally for the Liberty, whom she appeared in three preseason games with in 2003, and for Hapoel Petah Tikva in the Israeli League. She currently plays in the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) for the Lubbock Hawks where she is averaging 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while leading the Hawks to an 8-6 record at the league's All-Star break.
Creamer's jersey will be hung on the Sojka Pavilion wall next to Walz' No. 12 jersey that was retired Jan. 20, 1990.
