Bucknell Women's Basketball Suffers 58-41 Setback Against Air Force

USAFA, Colo. - Sophomore Kesha Champion (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River) matched a career-high with seven rebounds and led the Bison with 12 points, but the Bucknell women's basketball team suffered a 58-41 setback against Air Force in the opening game of the Air Force Classic at Clune Arena on Friday evening.
The Falcons remained undefeated on the season, as the team improved to 4-0, while the Bison suffered their second-straight loss and fell to an overall record of 2-4 on the year.
After Bucknell opened the contest with a 9-6 advantage, Air Force managed to hold the Bison to just one field goal over the final 11:27 of the first half as the Falcons went on a 24-5 run to take a 30-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Air Force stretched its lead to 29 after beginning the second half with a 17-6 run, but Bucknell finished strong despite being unable to overcome the deficit. The Bison outscored the Falcons 21-9 in the closing 10:17 and held Air Force to just one point over the final 5:34.
Pamela Findlay led the Falcons with 11 points and was 4-for-6 from the field with five rebounds and three steals. Ellen Jaesche posted a double-double for Air Force with 10 points and 12 rebounds while also contributing the team's only two blocks. Lauren Henderson recorded eight points and three assists and Ashley Mickens and Dawn Higginbotham added eight rebounds apiece.
Behind Champion for the Bison, sophomore Hope Foster (Washington, D.C./Dunbar), freshman Corrine Keller (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) and freshman Lauren Schober (Chicago, Ill./Regina Dominican) all chipped in six points each. Foster also led the team with 10 rebounds and three blocks. All of Schober's points came in the second half while five of Keller's six came in the final period. Keller set career marks with six points and three rebounds, as well.
Bucknell shot 25 percent for the contest (14-56) and was just 1-9 from three point range. The Falcons shot 30.8 percent for the game and were 14-19 (73.7%) from the foul line.
The Bison continue play in the Air Force Classic on Saturday, Dec. 3, as they will face either High Point in the consolation game set for 4 p.m. Eastern time.
