Bucknell Women's Swimming and Diving Takes Second at Bucknell Damon's Trials/Finals Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior Lectie Altman (Syracuse, N.Y./William Nottingham) earned her second individual win in the two-day meet to help the Bucknell women's swimming and diving team take second in the Bucknell Damon's Trials/Finals Invitational with 991 points. James Madison finished first with 1,246 points while Old Dominion was third with 626 and Binghamton rounded out the field in fourth with 422.
Altman took the top spot in the 200 back with a time of 2:03.03 and was a part of Bucknell's winning relay squad in the 200 medley relay as Altman, along with junior Nikki Woodward (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow), senior Mary Krakowski (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and junior Rebecca Scheffter (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore), won the event with a time of 1:49.52.
Junior Laura Goeller (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill School) finished fourth behind Altman in the 200 back with a time of 2:10.00 and was the runner-up in the 400 IM with a time of 4:37.27. Woodward followed in third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:38.32 and came in second in the 200 breast in 2:27.13.
Other top performances by Bison swimmers on day two included senior Lauren Reed (South Plainfield, N.J./Mount St. Mary Academy) and junior Katherine Munson (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) taking second and third in the 200 fly with times of 59.39 and 59.55, respectively, Scheffter's third place showing in the 100 free with a time of 53.82, sophomore Emily Wichryk's (Darlington, Pa./Blackhawk) fourth place finish in the 200 breast and sophomore Brittany Neligan's (Hempstead, N.Y.) performance in the 500 free that was good for fourth with a time of 5:11.98.
The 400 free relay team of freshman Susan Horstmann (Havertown, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara), sophomore Lauren Butrie (Orefield, Pa./Parkland), freshman Alexandra Lovallo (Ridgefield, Conn.) and Scheffter took second in 3:38.57, as well.
Sophomore Lauren Thomas (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) and senior Victoria Fritz (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway West) captured second and fourth in the three-meter dive. Thomas posted a mark of 205.25 while Fritz had a mark of 186.25.
Bucknell returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 3, when the team will travel to Baltimore, Md., to take on University of Maryland-Baltimore County beginning at 5 p.m.
