Bucknell Men's Swimming and Diving Dominates Lafayette and Falls to Navy

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's swimming and diving team came away with one win and one loss in Saturday's meet in Kinney Natatorium as the Bison defeated Lafayette, 232-67, but suffered a 193-107 setback against Navy. The Orange and Blue posted three individual wins and one relay victory in the meet.
Sophomore Bradford Bennett (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area), junior Matt Crandell (Winchester, Va./John Handley) and senior William Schilling (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) helped lead Bucknell by capturing individual wins. Bennett took first in the 100 breast in 58.42 to mark a new personal best, good for sixth all-time in the Bucknell record books. Schilling captured the top spot in the 200 breast in 2:14.09 and finished third in the 100 breast with a time of 59.99. Crandell won the 200 fly and came in third in the 100 fly with times of 1:54.74 and 53.14, respectively.
Junior Ian Rawhauser (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) was the runner-up in the 100 free in 47.52 and placed third in the 50 free with a time of 21.72. Senior Adam Freeman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) recorded marks of 289.95 and 276.90, good for second place in the one-meter and third in the three-meter dive.
The team of freshman Mark Kawczenski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.), Bennett, senior Mark Kretzer (Northport, N.Y./Harborfields) and sophomore Grant Steadman (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) was victorious in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.50, while sophomore John Peterman (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor), Steadman, Kawczenski and Rawhauser finished second in the 200 free relay in 1:26.16.
The Bison will next play host to the Bucknell Trials/Finals Invitational on Nov. 19 and 20, with the trials beginning at 10 a.m. and the finals at 5 p.m. on each day of the meet.
