LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's Marjorie Grap was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after her two-win performance at Saturday's Gulden Invitiational at Gerhard Fieldhouse. This is Grap's second honor on the weekend after being declared the Female Field Athlete of the Meet at Saturday's competition.
Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) earned victories in both the shot put and 20-pound weight throw in Bucknell's second competition of the season. The sophomore notched a 52' 11 ½" mark in the weight throw to grab her second-consecutive win and remain undefeated in the event on the season. In the shot put, Grap recorded a 42' 6 ¼" heave for her second win on the day.
Grap had a stellar freshman campaign in 2004 in which she was named Bucknell's "Rookie of the Year" for her accomplishments during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. Last season, Grap took third place in both the shot put and weight at the PL Indoor Championships. She is also the school record holder in the weight throw and is ranked second all-time in both the indoor and outdoor shot put marks in the Bison record books.
Grap and the rest of the Bison track and field squads will compete at the Nittany Lion Relays this Saturday in State College, Pa. Bucknell will be back in action at Gerhard Fieldhouse with the Bucknell Octagonal on Jan. 22.
