Freshmen Ira Reibeisen and John Lashnits Pick Up Tournament Doubles Title

Providence, R.I. - The Bucknell men's tennis team completed the second of three days of the Northeast Intercollegiate Championships on Saturday at Brown University. Several Bison advanced in their respective brackets while Ira Reibeisen and John Lashnits picked up a tournament doubles title.
The freshman tandem of Reibeisen and Lashnits earned a tournament title in the third doubles flight of the tournament. Reibeisen and Lashnits defeated Smalley and Nespoli of Lehigh, 8-5, in the final after coming back from a 4-0 deficit.
"We've had unbelievable results," said Bucknell head coach Rebecca Helt. "The results are far better than anticipated."
Lashnits also picked up a win in the main draw of flight seven of the tournament and advanced to Sunday's semi-final match. Lashnits defeated Colgate's Mickey Gallagher, 6-4, 6-2.
Gerald DiChiara also advanced to tomorrow's semifinal round notching a win over Nate Carvalho of URI, 6-2, 6-3.
Asher Salam and Nick Denefrio also picked up wins for the Bison in the consolation round.
Competition concludes on Sunday afternoon.
