HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Bucknell women's soccer team opened Patriot League play Saturday night and held Colgate scoreless for nearly 77 minutes, but came up on the wrong end of a 2-0 score at Van Doren Field to drop to 3-4-0 (0-1-0 PL) on the season.
The Raiders (4-3-0, 1-0-0 PL) jumped out to an early lead when Carolyn Warhaftig collected a carom off the crossbar and headed in a goal just 45 seconds into the contest. The Bison defense then shut down the Colgate offense for the next 77 minutes, holding them scoreless until the 78th minute of the match when freshman Franny Iacuzzi netted her league-leading seventh goal of the season.
At the back of the defense in goal was sophomore Katie Dry, who made seven saves as the Raiders attempted 19 shots, 11 on goal. The Bison were able to fire just two shots, one on goal. Both were off the foot of sophomore Jennifer Margolis.
For the game, Colgate attempted six corner kicks, while the Bison did not record any for the second consecutive match.
Bucknell returns to out-of-conference play Wednesday evening when it travels to Ithaca, N.Y., to take on Cornell at 7 p.m.
