LEWISBURG, Pa. - Overnight downpours that dumped several inches of rain on the Susquehanna Valley rendered the Bucknell University Golf Club unplayable Saturday, forcing the cancellation of the Bucknell Invitational men's golf tournament.
The teams had completed six holes of Friday's first round before the heavy rains came, and although the sun returned around noontime on Saturday, the course was simply too waterlogged to continue the tournament.
Bucknell, which is coming off a victory at last week's Colgate Invitational, will return to action next Saturday and Sunday at the Cornell Invitational in Ithaca, N.Y.
