Bucknell Track and Field Completes Competition at Penn Relays and TCNJ Invite

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. and EWING, N.J. - The Bucknell track and field squads finished their last meets before next weekend's Patriot League Championship at Army on Saturday, entering one individual competitior and one relay team into Saturday's Penn Relays events, while many more Bison went to the College of New Jersey Invitational.
At the Penn Relays, Josh Kaehler finished 17th in the collegiate men's javelin throw with a toss of 182'10". There was also a college "championship" javelin field as well as the college heat that Kaehler entered. The men's 4x800 relay team finished 14th in the college men's draw, completing the race in 7:51.67.
No Bison added his or her name to the IC4A/ECAC qualifying lists on Saturday, though the men's team had 11 and the women's team had 13 first- through fifth-place finishes in their events at the TCNJ meet.
The women's top-5 finishes included Angie Hall's fifth in the pole vault (10'11 ?"), Tolu Fayanjuola's second-place long jump (18'2 ?"), Robin Meling's fourth-place triple jump (36'2 ?"), the 4x100 relay team's second-place 48.96-second finish, Jamie Lilien's third-place 14.83 in the 100-meter hurdles, Monique Boley's third in the 400 (58.61) followed by Amy Calvo in fourth (59.47), Fayanjuola's win in the 100 (12.13), Sarah VandenBroek's fifth-place 12.66, Kat Allen's 1:06.32 fifth-place in the 400-meter hurdles, and VandenBroek's fifth-place 26.05 in the 200. Two 4x400 relay teams finished in the top five as well, one capturing first in 4:01.58 and one fourth in 4:26.22.
The men's top-5 finishes included three in the triple jump. Nick Novotny won the event with a 44'4 ?" leap, with Tyler Palumbo (44'4") in second and Drew Folk (43'7 ?") in fourth. Sean McCarthy finished second in the 5K (15:30.55), the 4x100 relay team won its race in 43 seconds flat, Justin Crane took second in the 400 (50.07) with Matt Bonelli (50.81) in fifth, Noel Powell finished fourth in the 100 (10.84), Crane took fifth in the 200 (22.52), and the 4x400 relay teams took first (3:26.77) and third (3:32.09) in that race.
The Patriot League Championships will be held next Friday and Saturday at West Point, N.Y.
